There was some scrub MMORPG I used to play that had a system like this. Basically the space station you start off in would be attacked and anyone in the station would be requested to help clear out the aliens and if you would, you could get a few neat items. However, it was a very small scale game with about only 10-15 people trying to clear out these aliens.

On a guild wars scale, what you could do is, take all the people who have moved or chatted in the last minute and give them an option to help out and move them into a small number of districts with about only 10-20 in each and allow them to fight it out with the monsters. Not everyone could participate cause chaos would follow (graphic/lag/afk) issues. I'm guessing it could work on a small scale with a reward being 500 gold or something small.

I would of like to of had 2 choices to go and fight the Charr in the North or go down to Kryta and onward to the desert.If I was given an option I would of chose to fight the Charr even at higher level.Let say 22.

I like the idea. It certinly has merrit and potential. they could be schedualed or such? Maybe loot in these could be raised to stop all the :"can't farm anymore" whines?
Something to keep us PvE's as active and on the ball as the PvPers? Maybe it's even in the expansion right now. I can really see possiblities here! Keep the ideas flowing guys!

I like this idea a lot, bring some nice surprises

If you die, get warped to the Arena, think about it monster stupid enough to invaid a large number of people ready to fight as opposed to the town dancing.

Or create new cities (such as expansion) that are flagged as possible invasion points if they didn't want to truly surprise new players.

I think it should be like, where theres a scout in Ascalon, he shouts in chat THE CHARR ARE COMING!! Then like 3 seconds later you see groups of 5 - 10 charr coming until max of 20 - 30 charr in area, and after you kill groups of charr (1 group = 6 charr Fire caller, martyer, shaman, blade storm, hunter, axe fiend lvl 8 - 10), and when they come the town scene changes to battlefield scene where you have helmet and sword, everyone participates including merchants and such, but NPCs stay at there location unless charr come to attack them. But however if Charr take over certain districts they remain there until they get wiped out. I dont really think you should be rewarded gold, I think you should get fame because you did an outstanding deed. But if you cannot do it in city, you know how old ascalon had battle just right outside of gates? maybe you can enter that gate, if you want to help defend ascalon, and there could be like 30 - 50 charr out there, and charr respawn somewhere whenever 1 dies, until you all kill like 5000 charr.

Also figured this, I completed storyline, I dont see that we wiped out Mursaat and Jade Armors, so maybe they could attack a certain place, to get there revenge with 10 - 20 groups maybe at droknars or dance party marhan grotto, and you have to kill 1000 max.

This idea sounds awesome, but wouldnt it be funny if people who died didnt get the reward so you saw peeps running around in circles trying not to die lol it would be so much fun to watch especially in ascalon. Damn, and you think some people arent team players in an 8 man party...if they were in a "25 man party" they would be even more worthless and hope that everyone else do everything for them :P

Look at the overwhelming support and genuine excitement for these great ideas! Some people seem to be wetting themselves, lol.

Edit- Would be like a massive Thunderhead Keep mission wouldn't it? Except you would have a weakling king to protect and the waves of forces would be much larger and intense.

Yeah imagine this:

You braced against the door with a few of your fellow warriors. The door shooks while the Charrs were smashing the door. A few elementalist were desperately throwing waves after waves of fire balls, chain lighting lava front into the on rushing waves of Charrs. Rangers shoot down Charrs that were trying to climb up the wall. Fire balls birsted around and behind you. You recieved endless messages telling you someone was just killed, at the meantime, the booming of the drums outside the gate was getting louder and louder. Your adrenaline was rushing into yout blood stream.

Suddenly someone behind you screamed:"The Charrs has breached the wall, they are coming in behind us!!!" A few figures rushed into the city with only a few health left, and suddenly a swarm of Charrs lead by a Charr boss charged into the city. A few players rushed against the onslaught of the charging Charrs, they were soon consumed by the flood of Charrs.



Still I think only one dis should be attacked at a time, there are those who doesnt like PvE and need to do things in the city too.

if you limit it to a specific district, you severely limit the content. so out of 15,000 people online, only 30 get to fend off the charr? that sounds pretty lame.

there should be an option for whether or not you wish to participate in a battle. if you choose to do so, you are randomly split off into separate districts in groups of 20 - 40 and you have to hold the town for a specific time or until a general arrives and you kill him or until your reinforcements arrive or whatever.

i definately like the idea of the posting of the stats on the GW website afterwards. "Wolfgang Dietrich and his band of 13 rag-tag asskickers managed to hold off the entire Charr invasion of over 300."

What lvl would the mosters be?
because many Guilds have lvls 1-20

Here is how it would work:

Everyone in each district of every town would get together in one giant district. The timer of when the army would attack appears. It reaches zero. The army attacks. At the end, each player gets fame and rank depending on their performance.

You guys ask a lot of questions lol, well for 1 thing "I" wouldnt make sure that 30 people fight lol, i make sure whole town fights, I know there will be lag, but lag is everywhere its not like you can hide it.

Mobs will be normal lvl at start of siege lvl 6 charr fire caller, whatever. Then towards end maybe lvl 16 Siege Charr Fire Caller. I would make limit on number mobs entering in city and mobs waiting to enter city, like 40 in city at time and 4000 in waiting, last for about 10 mins.

I think you should get fame, but not enough to get ranked up, or maybe have siege points or something, sell points for unique item, like 2000 points for armor penetrating sword hilt, or maybe 20000 points for max dmg crystalline sword.

Also thought of this, maybe if it lags, you can form group quickly (this be cool without being noticed charr coming, in medival times, when town was under sneak attack they had to create random groups), and after forming quick group, you can go outside and kill the Charr waiting to enter the city.

LOL i had same id and posted it as the massacre but i didnt c this thread.

It would be fun and i think the id of a new kind of point system like siege points would be nice. Because drops sometimes suck and it would be a little easier and more fun 2 get the weapon or item u wanted.
It would also stop a little of the spamming because al ppl can get the item or weapon they want so they dont have 2 buy 4 some times rediculous prices.

Also it would be fun 2 c all those spammers pissed of becuase some charr just invaded the city like"WTS black dye 4 5Kkkk1111268488 SHIT I CANT ATTACK"

But this is rly the best id evr 4 GW i think

If anyone has ever played Anarchy Online, this was quite common. At random times huge amounts of aliens would just randomly attack towns. These were known as Raids. This might be a good thing in Guild Wars, but perhaps maybe when they start having races. Something like: "The Ascalonianswere attacked but the Deldrimors at Sardelac Sanitarium."

Meh, it'd be cool to see some large scale battles like this.

I think a good way for the implementation of this idea would be the message that an invading force is coming, perhaps with a countdown timer telling you when it starts.

The countdown could lead end with all the districts for the town/outpost in question being closed down for a certain period (so as people couldn't just leave the part and travel to the town that is supposedly being attacked).

It would act much like a normal mission, where you must form your party and Given five or so minutes you could call some friend to help, you click 'enter mission' and are simply transported to the relevant instanced town map, but with no other players and a lot of monsters to fight.

There are five cities in the game and about twenty outposts, so having a random raid (it needn't be the same type of raid on each place every time: the forgotten might raid Destiny's Gorge, but so might the Lossaru) in a random place at a random time would add a lot of excitement, and rushing to do things, kind of like when Europe get the favour and people pile into the temple of ages like mad.

Something like this would add a great deal to the game, and I would love to see this idea included in any form at all.
